so, as most of you know from my blog... my hair is usually OUT OF CONTROL. seriously, curly, crazy, insane. i usually don't spend much time dilly dallying around with it, so when misikko contacted me about reviewing the hana flat iron... i thought, why not? i'm obsessed. i never use my little piece flat iron because it always took FOREVER to warm up, then it took me going over each section like 6 times to get this weave straight... welp, i used the hana flat iron, and it was like a dream. seriously. it took like 20 minutes, and it was the jam. totally worth it... and i have to work early in the AM... so less time spent in the morning is another 5 minutes in bed.

check out the flat irons, i swear... you will not be sorry... it's going to make you want to toss the flat iron you have in the TRASH.

due to my shopping craziness recently... i've been forced to thrift a lot more... wedding planning and all... i found this crochet lace dress at the st. vincent's in long beach for $3.99... seriously?! i brought a $20 with me... and since i had money left over, and there just so happened to be girl scouts peddling cookies at the entrance... you better believe i spent what was left over on me and b's favorites.

i spent the whole weekend hiking, date nighting, and VINTAGE SHOPPING. yes, this GEM is a product of the melrose trading post on sunday. holy frick. i saw it and said i'm in love. i believe i said it out loud and the masses of hipsters looked at me like i was crazy... but come on really. i got it for 40 bones... yes a bit pricey for vintage and it being literally smashed onto a rack that was so full it looked pregnant on the ends... BUT that is when you find the best stuff... i came across a few other gems, but nothing as fantastic as this. my other purchases will appear in posts to come... let's just say it involves my astrological sign, tie dye, and fleetwood mac...

i got these kiss-esque platform boots at this little random shoe store down some little tiny alley, that i wouldn't be able to name if i tried, in harajuku one day. i'm sickly obsessed with them, they give me a good 8 inches, making me a gnarley 6'3". i tower over everyone. they were only like 5,000 yen... about 55 bones usd.

i'm trying to reinvent my wardrobe... maybe trying to go for a cozy, desert, woodsy, bohemian... well, maybe it's better if i dont try to label it... all i know, if that SMV just put up the spring line, and i've got 3... maybe 4 or 5 pieces that i have my eye on... hopefully i'll be getting my W4 soon... and then, it's REFUND time... which is super exciting... because that is being spent on the new unearthen ring...

even though i was in tokyo for work, it was still amazing! i had a blast, and yes, we worked like 80 hour work weeks, but it was totally worth every moment spent in japan. i got to experience so much, and see so many cool things, and visit a lot of places! it was amazing!

sorry i haven't written in a while! it's been a busy month! i should be home for a good amount of time, expect some updates soon!

i'm back from new york. wow... what a trip! we worked 12-17 hours a day, and well... the store looked amazing. we even got to walk around on friday a little bit after we got off... went down to soho, nolita, and greenwich village... stopped off at the usual places on broadway. and then we went to delicatessen for breakfast and pastis for lunch... some of my favorites.

that night we went out in the city to a few bars... the library in alphabet city.... I LOVED IT. dark, dirty, dingey, graffeti, smelled... it was amazing.

i need to go back there.

in preparation for my new york trip next week... i've purchased some pieces that i thought would be SPOT on... unfortunately... i COMPLETELY forgot to take into account the weather... GREAT... the pieces are unbelievable none the less...

i've been scouring ebay and vintage stores for the perfect velvet chiffon burn out kimono situation and unfortunately, i don't have 200 bones to help furnish this purchase... which is what similar items have been selling for on ebay... RIDICULOUS! so when i found this gem for 35 bones, i scooped it up... thank GOD it was a buy it now...

i'm not a big american apparel fan... usually i just like their bras (because i'm a surf board), and their oversized basics... BUUUT i found this oversized chiffon button up, that i need in every color. i know, i know, it's no match for 45 degree weather, but i will wear it everywhere...

i have another little surprise... but they haven't arrived yet, more on them soon... one hint... fatale.

for those of you who can't afford the real pamela love double cage ring... here's a little secret... NEITHER CAN I! here's my inside source: EBAY... you can get it for like 30-70 bones... LEGIT.

as most of you know... i'm getting married next year... and we have been looking at wedding bands... and i was turned on to a promise rings for women website, which i was a little sketchy about... until i found a black diamonds/white gold band... that i'm obsessed with...

this is quite possibly, my favorite new hat. it hasn't left my head all weekend, and for some reason, this hat seems to go with EVERY outfit i put together. i got it at urban outfitters for 9 bones. for some reason, it wasn't a good seller... so i swooped it up real fast.

when i saw this dress at free people, i knew i needed to have it on my body, ASAP. it is quite possibly the ONLY printed thing i own, and i love it.

it's been so hot lately, all i've wanted to wear are baggy dresses and shorts. i hate an indian summer... it's october, i'm ready for sweaters, and hot coco.

so i bought this sweater forever ago, from topshop, rumi is wearing it everywhere and has posted it two or three times... should have gotten on getting it posted faster... but since i don't have time to float on a cloud, i guess i'm coming in second here. i bought it in a uk 12 so it would be HUGE. and it totally is, i covers almost all the way down to my fingers, and never stays on my shoulders, which is exactly how i love to wear it. i just made another purchase today... i'm opening my color wheel a bit... i'm allowing in a crushed velvet black based floral drop waist oversized dress by free people... i saw it and almost died. HAS TA HAS.

i have the mustard, i'm getting the black distressed, and i have the stevie... i feel like these are the next step.... along with...

topshop has AMAZING sweaters right now... i haven't found any that rival it yet... zara had some amazing ones in the beginning of the season, but i really haven't seen any since.

sorry for looking like a hot mess in these photos... i was having terrible allergy attacks all day and couldn't wear a ton a make up... so i didn't wear any.

this h&m kimono was a total find. i found ONE in the lingerie section in the herald square store in new york, and it hasn't left my body since. although, i have kind of replaced it with some really oversized, crazy heavy zara knits, which i'm obsessed with... photos soon...

obviously, these are all very well known pairs of black boots right now... but seriously, how necessary is a pair of black boots... VERY NECESSARY. these are some of my absolute favorites right now... and unfortunately, very out of reach but i have found some amazing substitutions...

solestruck has a knock off of the acne boot...

now, i know it's no beautiful acne admire wedge... but at 199 bones, instead of 700 bones, its much more affordable.

as for the alexander wang and ld tuttle beauties, i'm sorry, but these are one of a frickin kind. if anyone knocks those babies off... it will be jeffrey campbell... GET ON IT, design team.

now, the opening ceremony boots would make a SERIOUS dent in my bank account, so i did a little research and found a custom boot maker on ebay, who can make them for less than half the price. oh yah... thigh high faux-cow boy boots... you will be mine.

lately, i have become obsessed with all things that take shape in the form of a prism. there's something about the way that light refracts through the prism and turns into a spectrum that draws me in. maybe it's my girlish obsession with rainbows and pretty stones, but these are by far my favorite prisms...

let's just start off by saying, my fiancee had my engagement ring modeled after what he did to this tiffany's ring. it's beautiful in person. the perfect engagement ring.

here's the thing... we know, the diamond looses all its "brilliance" when turned upside down, and we know that it's a tiffany's design... BUT COME ON!!! he's killing me, literally. and this ring can do the same. my fiancee knows me all too well, and said, when i'm not around to protect you, this ring can do that for me.

this poncho is one of my new favorite things ever. i got it last year in the men's section of forever 21, and recently rediscovered it in the very bottom on my linen closet. i love finding things and then them being like new again.

i had a photo shoot today with the ladies from neuter this, charley and kalin, and co-modeled with michelle from monochromatic facets. it was so much fun! everyone was so great! and the hair and make-up was KILLER. desert bitches. obviously there was a family wandering around the desert and they said,

"is this a high fashion what-not?"

since it's summer, i've been gradually changing over my wardrobe from colder thicker layering pieces to lighter pieces... now, as you know, i'm not too big on print, so i've been REALLY focusing on texture, and trying to change it up a bit... i've been really into lace and beginning to jump on the velvet train...

breannalee, designer/hippie/wanderer/inspirer, has designed a pair of burgundy crushed velvet shorts for her fall 2010 line that have made my heart skip a beat...

this is the tie-dye crushed velvet, and i simply cannot wait for the burgundy.

breannalee... i'm obsessed. you're wonderful.

i'm finally home again. after an exhausting ten days opening up the forever 21 in times square, i'm finally home...

when i stepped outside my door this morning, it was WONDERFUL not to instantly feel like i need a shower or just spontaneously melt into a puddle.

the weather was horrific. humid and hot. it makes me not function.

but aside from working, i definitely had a blast hanging out, and getting to know people [see below]. <3

i have definitely gotten a lot of wear out of this romper. there are so many different ways to wear it, which is KILLER. i've worn it with a flannel over, by itsself, with my favorite vintage suede fringe jacket, with my favorite worn in torn up tee over. it's one of the most versatile things in my wardrobe.
i'm packing for new york now, and let me tell you... it's rough. i'm trying to get 10 days worth of outfits + shoes + accessories + leaving room for any purchases... i don't know if i'm going to make it.

so, in california, it's still not summer hot... but, as a result of it getting somewhat warmer (about 80 degrees)... i've started to change over my wardrobe to what i consider "summer"... i'm thinking lots of nude, black, brown, grey, red... i'm definitely obsessed with these frye harness boots. i'm going to be wearing these ALL summer long. i'm not the type of gal to wear sandals and skip off to the beach for volleyball on the weekends... not me.

i'm much more the type to have a beach day in high waisted destroyed jean shorts, these frye boots, and a crochet bikini top. that's my beach wear... if you can even get me there.

i'm trying to plan a desert vacation for b and i but i think that we're going to be much too busy with work to get out to palm springs this summer :(

brad and i spent saturday on balboa, walking the island, getting ice cream... just relaxing. it was exactly what we needed, especially since he had just gotten back from japan (the night before), and i had a long week at work... b grew up on balboa so he knows all the back routes, good eats, and where to get the REAL original balboa bar (that amazing thing covered in rainbow sprinkles). whenever we're on balboa, we always go to the original place... he always gets a balboa bar, and i always get something different... i was feeling like a good old fashion chocolate ice cream waffle cone, which i inhaled.

so im suuuuper bummed that bonadrag no longer carries the necklace i want... they do have the style, but not the crystal that i wanted... if i'm going to spend that much money on a necklace, it's going to be the exact one that i want. so i had to go back to the drawing board, but i think i have another winner...

i'm constantly disappointed by h&m. i feel like, it's once in a blue moon that i find some thing i looove there. this dress being one out of two things that i found... the other being a mohair cropped sweater (for 10 bucks). but honestly, i wish that h&m would expand their vision and get a bit edgier, with their basics...

i understand that living in orange county/la, there's a certain

"idea" of what women look like, (especially in orange county). i have come to terms with the fact that when i tell people i'm from orange county they furrow their brow and go,

"really?"

i understand that i'm not super edgy or anything... but let's face it, i definitely do not look like most girls... or people.

because of how i look, i tend to not wear print (at all). i don't want to give people a headache with the amount of print on tattoo i would be sporting. because of my body type (tall and skinny), i mainly choose shapes that are a box or a long slender shape. i know it's not super innovative, but i hope that someone gets it...

i've been bed ridden for the day. apparently i've got food poisoning. it sucks. i can't sleep because my stomach is cramping so hard. so i've been online shopping, and i've finally decided on some purchases that are going to be made with the money i earned from my ebay extravaganza...

so as you've probably noticed. my hair is now a reddish brown, the blonde was awesome, but it was just too much up-keep... and i got over it really quickly. BUT, here's da ting. apparently my hair was blonde, i chose a dark brown off the shelf dye... which had a blue base... soo... yellow+blue=GREEN. it was BAAAAAAAD.

of course i freaked out, and b talked me down from my ledge. he googled,

"my hair was blonde, and i dyed it brown, now it's green, what next?"

of course, the answer came up right away, and now it's fixed. funny story... NOW.

went to pike last night... thank you to EVERYONE who came out. it meant so much to me. we had SUCH a blast! best birthday ever! one of my friends wrote the most amazing thing on a card she gave me,

i love this shirt my boss got me from h&m. we all fell in love with it she bought us each one. now we make sure we let each other know if we're going to wear it to work... sad, but true.

i'm really into throwing a HUGE shirt over my tighter super tissue paper thin dresses and calling it a day. i love the proportions it creates. such drama without being too fancy or too restricting... you know?

anyhow, bradley is BACK from japan! yay! brought my back a TON of japanese fashion magazines with is super exciting! despite me being japanese, i've never been, so it's really cool to hear about his experiences in ginza. compared to bradley, i had a rather uneventful week. mostly gym, sleep, work, eat, work, work.

i understand that in our world of blogging the style we have as individuals is being put out into the universe for people to judge... i get it and i'm fine with that. but why do people have to be OPENLY mean about it?

everyone is open to their own opinion, but tacky, ugly, and hookerish? come on guys. that hurts.

i'm completely secure with myself, happy with the person i am, love my style, can appreciate constructive criticism, but really? i think it's lame when you have to put down something that someone makes, wears, or likes because you don't like it... or even better, can't pull it off the way someone else can. i think it's BS.

these shorts have been one of the staple things in my wardrobe for the past three years now. i've had them forever, and even though they are shredded and practically illegal from behind, they are amazing, and amazingly comfortable.

last week i did, things that everyone needs to buy this seasons... now i'm doing things you need to keep, and consider as staples...

they are also probably the brightest color bottom piece in my closet as well.

obviously, as part of an effort to change around my wardrobe i'm trying to buy less black. being as it is my favorite color, i'm focusing on cremes, browns, and different shades of grey... baby steps.

bought an amazing asymmetrical stone colored dress from h&m yesterday on my shopping extravaganza with allie. she picked it up and went, you better buy this, or i'll cut you. allie is a little polish, blue eyed, petite, blessed jewel... and the tone in her voice made my knees tremble a bit. i went, uhm, ok... and purchased it immediately.

i realized after getting some questions... i never really show my jewelry up close. this is everything i wear on daily basis. i never leave the house without putting all this on. i wear two more pieces that aren't shown every day as well...

1. marc jacobs silver bone bracelet. morbid, yet i can't part with it.

2. rolex submariner, it's silver with a black face... ok, ok. it's definitely b's watch... but i LOVE it. i would kill for the daytona in gold with a black face... i have the one with the white face, but i want both.

this outfit wasn't everything i originally planned on it being... i was just going to wear a tube mini skirt, the bra and my hoodie... but then realized that i have no idea where my tube mini is. which was a bummer because i was really looking forward to channeling this look:

ok, so if you read/visit my blog regularly, you know, i'm obsessed with the neo-gothic, shape shifter-esque kind of look... now i'm feeling more of an over the river and through the woods we go kind of thing... time to start stock piling taupe, light greys, and rich browns... we all know i have enough black...

obviously i need lots of fux pieces, and lots of suede, lots of leather, and lots of speciality basics.

i'm going to start hunting for fur, suede, and leather at the pasadena flea market...

feeling like i need a revamp in my wardrobe... so i compiled a list of things that you MUST buy for this spring season:

1. solid color maxi dress: they are PERFECT for layering and getting a dramatic proportion effect... obviously, i've figured this out, and "maxi-ed" out my wardrobe. not a super flowy maxi though... grey, grungy, and super tight... i need to alter the maxi i'm wearing.

2. some sort of gnarly wedge: i've been seeing wedges/platforms EVERYWHERE. but they have to be super high and out of control.

3. knee socks: whether it's a la alexander wang or just h&m knee socks... with the gnarly wedge, it's a MUST.

4. neutrals: black, white, taupe, grey... popping it with dark gem tones, adding that extra layer.

5. destroyed: tee shirts, shorts, tights... holy, shredded, cob-webbed, make it your own. ann-sofie back is on to something...

6. full finger rings: everyone is all about it, pamela love and topshop are definitely on to something...

7. shapes/silhouette... i feel like it's important to create a shape with what you're wearing, create a new silhouette...

CONGRATS TO APPARELLEL FOR WINNING THE DIY GIVE-AWAY

so obviously kristin and i went to le match last night with nakama kai and his man jesse... so much fun. the art show was amazing, dicovered some wonderful artists...

after the show we all wanted to get a beer... unfortunately for us, downtown fullerton is frat town, so we were hard pressed to find a bar that wasn't over run with college guys trying to do keg stands... as we were walking down the street this bouncer stopped us and was like,

"do you guys want to go somewhere exquisite?"

nate and jane-e: "DUH."

kristin and jesse: "you guys, i don't know if we should be following this guy."

so we followed him into a smoke shop, then into and through a cigar locker, down a random hallway, and through a glass door that was a secret door to a super secret bar. which was AWESOME.

i'm sure as you've noticed... amish goth (weird, i know).

i'm having obsessive tendencies to this look right now... the shapes, the proportions... i can't get enough.

so i just joined twitter... yes, i caved to the dark side... i'm not really quite sure how it works, or what it does... but i know that i need people to follow me, and people to follow. usually i just twitter during lunch or when something funny happens... or when a random thought pops into my head, and i just can't keep it to myself, but no one's around the tell...

decided this morning i needed a daily dose of balenciaga, and sent me these pictures:

let's talk about this for a hot minute. HOLY CRAP. they are a high fashion version of a nerdy (literally) block heeled penny loafer. WTF. amazing. personally, i would never wear them... but seriously the cube dimension and the colors and the "classic shoe" aspect... god it makes them ironic, killer, and the next thing we'll see all the shoe bloggers wearing/blogging about ;)

ps. do you ever wonder how some of these bloggers get all the amazing things they do?! i wonder about it all the time, because when i see something i love on a real person (as opposed to a model, on a runway wearing it)... it makes me think that it might be affordable... low and behold, it's not. rarely do i ever purchase anything new, usually it's always off ebay, or second hand stores, or with a friend of a friend's discount kind of thing... and it bums me out that the blogs i look to for fashion advice always have better hook ups than everyone else!

next thing i have my eye on... anything from t by alexander wang, fall. to die for, incase you haven't seen it yet...

so, i had to do some traveling for work today... so i was cooped up in the car for a while in traffic coming from LA to orange county... feeling a little loopy from a lack of coffee... all i wanted to do was listen to ONE taylor swift song (ps. love her), and kiis fm wasn't playing any...

JUST TO DEFEND MYSELF A LITTLE BIT... I'M USUALLY AN NPR KIND OF GIRL....

anyways, i called in and said exactly this:

"are you taking any requests right now? because i'm a grown ass woman in need of some taylor swift."

the lady just laughed... and sure enough 4 songs later, my beloved taylor came on.

i caved and started purchasing things from my birthday wist list... behold:

i did it. i figured i haven't bought a pair of shoes in a while... and shoot, it's my birthday... the big TWO-FOUR. i'm starting to feel a bit old... maybe a little bit rough around the edges... i think i need to start going to the gym again, eating better, maybe just doing more... i get home from work every day and i'm so exhausted, it's hard to get motivated, you know?

my friend josh hart is participating in a show this friday, i am definitely planning on going. some of his work is above the flyer (they are two different paintings). he did a painting of a pug for me and b last christmas, loves it.

seriously though, if you're in the LA or orange county area, you should try to make it out... I guess we're all showing up around 9ish... if you've ever been there, you know the hibbleton gallery in fullerton is tiny, and hard to get into... so the earlier the better.
