do blondes have more fun?

(urban outfitters flannel, h&m black and white floral tank, forever 21 knit skirt, jeffrey campbell roks wedge)

listening to:
city and colour
pretty girls make graves
violent soho
motorhead

so, obviously, if you don't personally know me... then you don't know that i've been dying to be mary-kate blonde since i was in high school... and well, yesterday is finally happened.  being half japanese... my hair is definitely NOT too keen on being ANYTHING but dark brown... so it's taken my hair colorist and i, a few good tries to get it as light as it is now.... but i'm in love with it.  i'm pretty pale for being japanese... my little sister is SUPER dark, so i think the blonde works well...
what do you guys think?

i made some purchases yesterday from topshop... it included:

(images via topshop)

me and b went to see avatar last night... it was AMAZING... beyond that, it was pouring when we got to the theater... thank god i had on boots... i used the leather stirrups with my calf high balenciaga boots... i got so many compliments on them!  i highly recommend picking up a pair... from bebe.  i checked and they aren't on the website but i'm sure you can still by them in store.

i want to give a big thanks to big daddy, for featuring me on her blog... which i happen to think is pretty amazing.  she's got a skilled eye for finding dreamy bedroom pictures and she also is in love with cats... she also puts together a fierce black outfit... which everyone knows i love...

MEGADEATH&SLAYER

(h&m white tee, forever 21 black bike shorts, forever 21 batwing color block cardigan, forever 21 peep toe boots, bebe stirrups... seriously.)

listening to:
slayer
bob dylan
radiohead
portishead
city and colour
random i know...

ok.  so when we were inspiration shopping the other day... one of my co-workers started walking in to bebe on rodeo... honestly here's how the dialogue went in my head:

j: seriously, he's walking into bebe?
what is he thinking?
n: come on!
j: fine, but it's trashy in here... i feel like i need to take a shower.
n: OH MY GOD.  come here.  i found something.
j: LEATHER STIRRUPS... SERIOUSLY?!  IT'S BEBE.

HOLY CRAP.  they are amazing.  i cannot get over them.  i wore them yesterday, and everyone had the same reaction... "seriously?"
i love how tight they are, the definitely give the slimming effect...  obvers... i hate my legs, i always have.   i feel like i have:
a. man legs (and/or)
b. thunder thighs
so anything i can use to slim them down, is amazing.

i'm really excited to do some shopping soon... i have three items on my "give me" (as allie would say..)
topshop.
pamela love.
topshop.
i'll let you know when it happens...

also, i don't know if you can see the necklace i'm wearing, but it's beautiful... here's some better pictures:

b made it.  i swooped it from him to wear the other day.  it's one of my favorite.  he makes some amazing jewelry.  i gave you the link to his flickr account, and he has some of his other jewelry designs shown under the "artwork" set.

UHM.  Mega Death.  Slayer.  Long Beach.  August.
NUFF SAID.

ps. i'm also blonde now.

melrose place, pamela love, the violent femmes...

(DIY cut out skull tee, forever 21 striped dress, DIY otk socks, vera wang lavender label wedges, sabina bag.)

my playlist right now:
the white stripes.
the violent femmes.
nirvana.
the clash.
the ramones.
cake.
the cure.
weezer.

in love with this skull tee shirt i cut.  can't get enough of it.  wore it two days in a row... actually a day and a half... wore it to dinner/drinks with my friends, and then yesterday to work...  got the inspiration from cocorosa. thank you darling!  **note** please don't think i'm creepy, you just inspired me!

had an amazing day yesterday.  we had an inspiration day for work... we pranced around la all day... for like 10 hours.  it was so fun.  we hit up the rodeo for high end designer inspiration, melrose place for boutique inspiration, space 1520 for indie inspiration. god, it was so nice to be out of the store.  made some really great purchases. surprisingly... i bought a pair of leather spats (which is amazing in itsself) from.... BEBE.... i know, i know, WTF!?  among my other purchases... a tarnished silver bone bracelet (its like 5 metal shaped femur bones all attached in a circle), and some tops from HM, all in all, i spent under 100 bones.  good riiiiiiiight?!

unfortunately for me, i did go to opening ceremony on la cienega... god, i wish i was rich and could afford to buy myself and my friends lots and lots of presents.
i did find two affordable things... two different pamela love rings on sale at opening ceremony... i'm obsessed with both... i need your help!!!  which one should i purchase??

(imgs. taken from google images and opening ceremony.)

i'm consistently in awe of pamela love... i think she is the bee's knee's.  i've never been a huge jewelry person, until pamela love.  her designs (along with robert lee morris and zoe and made her think), have changed my jewelry collection completely.  they have made me think more about the accessories i wear every day, and that they do change your outfit completely.  im obsessed.

grandmother wolf.

(vera wang lavender label wedges, american apparel knit otk socks, urban outfitters intarsia cardigan, urban outfitters silk blouse.)

today has been quite the day, and i'm glad to be home.  lots of stuff going on at work.

moving on...  i've recently become addicted to floral and stripes together, i've got a good outfit planned for tomorrow, so stay tuned.  i've been feeling a little worn down, creatively, unfortunately, because that's all my job entails is being creative... but it's getting to the point where i wake up in the morning, and can't for the life of me find something to wear...  i think maybe i'm just getting restless with my wardrobe... i'm sure you get the same way.

i found a grey and creme striped t shirt dress, that i'm going to cut the sleeves off... obviously, and a little creme and light blue floral tank... wish me luck.  you know i'm not the print type.

i wish i could have worn...

fever, fever.

(series of pictures by. b. johnson. vera wang lavender label wedges, american apparel thigh high opaque tights, forever 21 dress, urban outfitters cardigan, sabina bag.)

listening to an amazing playlist right now...
zeppelin
yeah yeah yeahs
takka takka
pretty girls make graves
nirvana

what you can't see in these pictures is on my cardigan, the sleeves are shredded from the elbows down. everyone thinks it's a really cool effect, and i did it myself... unfortunately, it's not a diy cardigan... i've just had the damn thing for so long, that it started falling apart. for an urban cardigan, i guess that's pretty good.

anyhow, i've been dabbling with a little design lately... not anything crazy, but altering things to make them my own. it's been really cool. i'm pretty much trying to make the things i can't afford, the easiest way possible... i'll let you know how that goes

can we just talk really quickly about how OBSESSED with alexander wang i am. i can't get over how amazing his fall collection looks, the velvet, the sheer, oh my. it's just too much, i can't get over it.

another thing that happened this weekend, musink... if you were thinking of going... DON'T. i spoke to a few people who went to the orange county dates, and they said it was a waste of 35 bones. affliction, ed hardy, barely there clothing... i'm over it.

(obsessed.... t by alexander wang maxi dress, elizabeth and james mule heel, RLM for elizabeth and james double cross ring... which will go perfectly with my pamela love cross ring, coming via bonadrag on march 20. images via shopbop, bloomingdales, google.)

hysteric.

(cheap monday sweater, american apparel tank, urban outfitters denim, deena and ozzy peep toe sling backs.)

listening to this american life... which bradley and i have an obsession with... while i'm sewing or working on some kind of crazy project, he's working on the computer, scanning photos, and editing... we'll have this american life on playing among the white noise of mouse clicks and ruffling tulle... it's so calming. a perfect saturday night, listening to this american life while drinking a 22 of heineken and sewing, hanging out with bradley.

sorry i haven't posted all week... it's been crazy busy with work and such... working 12 hour days. roooough.

found out i'll be back in nyc march 22nd through the 26th... for work, not fun... but elizabeth sarah, let's plan some time to go shopping, yes? again, just barely missing fashion week (the last time i was there i missed fashion week, too). maybe sometime my timing will be right... someday.

pre-engaged...

it's perfect.

ZEPPELIN, erin wasson x rvca, and angelina wrona, DUH.

(led zeppelin tee shirt, h&m shiny taupe tights, american apparel side slit leggings, vintage suede fringe jacket, balenciaga ankle boots.)

the other day i put led zeppelin on, and someone asked me "is this van halen?" i almost DIED. SKKKKKKU ME?! is this van halen?? what kind of question is that RACH?
wanted to smother them.

went to an indian dinner with my bestie and bradley. it was delicious. she almost smothered my for my zeppelin tee. i told her i would find one for her... so if anyone knows where i can get an extra large vintage led zeppelin tee shirt, let me know.

(my next purchase, obviously. pamela love cross ring, image via bonadrag)

(erin wasson x rvca, images via style.com)

obviously. erin wasson x rvca fall 2010, MY TYPE. these were my three favorite looks from style.com. i was clicking through the outfits, and screamed to bradley, "oh my god rach! it's so good."
**'rach' is just a nickname my friends and i use for EVERYONE... it's weird, i know.**

it's amazing though... i love fall, for all designers. fall/winter is my favorite season. the layers, the knits, they heavy fabric, the leggings, and boots, oh my. it's how i want to dress year around... and mainly do. if you haven't noticed, i'm definitely somewhat of a "vampire", as my friends like to call me. i don't do well in sun, black is my favorite color, duh, and i'm pretty incredibly pale for my ethnicity.

(angelina wrona, images via google)

i'm in love with this artist, angelina wrona. i don't even have the words to describe the feelings that these envoke. they are so powerful, gothic, and dimensional for me. i love the way she paints the eyes of all of her portraits... i love that they are so deep, and so large... like a sad girl in a velvet painting. it gives me chills, and i love it.

show your bones.

(on me: urban outfitters flannel and sunglasses, forever 21 turban, h&m shiny tights, american apparel tank, jeffrey campbell alexa wedges. on allie: american rag dress, random tights, jeffrey campbell circle zip ankle boots... and a flower from the bushes... which she did put in her mouth.)

i can't stop listening to the yeah yeah yeahs recently. more specifically fever to tell and it's blitz. but unfortunately all i have with me today is show your bones. not that show your bones isn't greeeeat... but it's probably my least favorite album. karen o is one of my biggest style icons... and of course i can't forget jenny lewis. the picture below is my favorite one of karen o. i know it doesn't really reflect any of her style. but i'm obsessed with the picture.
